Glossostigma Elantinoides is a classic foreground aquarium plant that is commonly used in Iwagumi-style nature aquariums. Considered one of the smallest and low-growing aquarium plants, Glossostigma Elatinoides is also commonly used in nature style aquariums tanks as well. Glosso for short, this aquatic plant is suitable for almost all aquarium tank sizes and features a beautiful, bright green hue. While Glossostigma Elatinoides's care is fairly simple, this aquarium plant tends to exhibit unwanted growth characteristics if less than favorable conditions are provided. If the aquarium LED lighting unit is not strong enough, Glosso, like many other aquarium plants, will begin to grow upwards in pursuit of the lighting source it is provided. With this in mind, care requirements include high light, CO2 injection and a nutrient-dense aquarium soil to achieve the low-growing, lush carpet this aquatic plant is coveted for.

Soft water also aids in promoting significant growth. When planting, be sure to separate Glosso into smaller portions and plant halfway into the aquarium soil about half an inch apart. Like most aquarium foreground aquatic plants Glossostigma Elatinoides can also be grown via the dry start method, which entails allowing the aquarium plant to establish itself prior to flooding the tank. If favorable conditions are provided, Glosso is known to be a quick grower and will require regular trimming to ensure a clean presentation is kept.

Tissue culture plants are grown in-vitro by laboratories who specialize in propagating aquatic plants. There is a huge selection of plant species that have been propagated this way. This is truly the best option for those who want absolutely zero unwanted pests, algae and pesticides. This makes them perfect for shrimp keepers and any planted tank enthusiasts alike.

NOTE: It is important to remove the tissue culture agar gel before planting. Simply wash the gel away, divide, and plant.
