OVERVIEW

An oldie but a goodie! This tank was created over 10 years ago, but we still tend to receive plenty of questions regarding its specifications. Inspired by travel abroad, the goal was to create a “forbidden forest” type look. This large planted tank features multiple medium to large branches of Manzanita Wood that were soaked in water for 2 months. The tank was initially planted with palm-sized patches of aquatic moss that grew slowly and eventually covered the branches. The sole purpose of this tank was to enter the 2006 International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest, which eventually received rank #77 in the world. Healthy and quick plant growth were required and many lessons were learned during its lifespan. The depth that is evoked by hardscape choice and plant placement was one of its most captivating qualities.
