The Ultimate Rimless Glass Aquarium Tank
Ultum Nature Systems was the first brand to produce rimless aquariums using ultra high clarity low iron glass with a very unique feature - the 45 degree mitered edge. Unlike traditional rimless aquariums, where all 5 panels of glass are cut with a flat edge then bonded together with clear silicone, the Ultum Nature Systems aquariums take it to the next level.
The mitered edge used by UNS on 4 glass panels allows for a much more seamless joint and requires less silicone to form the corners of an aquarium. This means that not only are the corner edges much cooler to look at, the silicone can be much more precise and cleaned up nicer, which means no globs of leftover dried silicone. A secondary benefit to this is that because the silicone is now angled unlike their flat edged 90 degree counterparts, aquarium maintenance tools such as an algae scraper can clean up against each corner without the worry of accidentally cutting into and degrading the silicone seam overtime, which could lead to potential tank leakage.
Industry standard 90 degree versus Ultum Nature Systems 45 degree edge
The minimal usage of silicone provides a cleaner look while the holding strength is just as strong as traditional silicone seamed corners.
When viewed at different angles, the corners of Ultum Nature Systems Rimless Aquarium are less distracting.
Sleek and high-clarity — rimless glass tanks provide a beautiful canvas for aquascaping, planted aquariums, terrariums, and more. With clean lines and unobstructed views, they come in many sizes for all spaces and hobbies.
Among the collection, Ultum Nature Systems (UNS) tanks stand out for their ultra-clear, low-iron glass. UNS first introduced the 45° mitered edge, reducing excess silicone for a seamless finish. The angled panels make precision cleaning simple, helping protect the seams for long term reliability and reducing the risk of leakage.
A premium choice trusted by aquascapers, UNS rimless tanks are available in a range of sizes suitable for planted aquascapes, saltwater reef tanks, desktop setups, and more. Explore the collection to find a tank that suits your space and style — from beginner setups to premium, contest-worthy displays.
What is a rimless glass tank?
A rimless tank has no top frame or black rim, giving uninterrupted views of your aquascape and the life within. This minimalist design highlights plants, hardscape, and fish without distractions.
Why choose a rimless tank over a traditional rimmed aquarium?
Rimless tanks provide cleaner aesthetics and let what's inside really shine. They also come in a wide variety of sizes and shapes, making it easier to find one that fits your space. Ultimately, the most important thing is choosing an aquarium you love.
What makes UNS rimless tanks special?
Ultum Nature Systems (UNS) was the first brand to introduce the 45° mitered edge! Combined with ultra-clear, low-iron glass, this creates a seamless, premium look. The angled corners eliminate excess silicone (no more globs of dried silicone!) and make edge-to-edge cleaning easier, without risking damage or compromising the tank’s seal.
Are rimless tanks suitable for beginners?
Yes! Rimless tanks are beginner-friendly. UNS tanks are available in more than 40 sizes. If you’re starting small, check out AIO tanks, nano tanks, or cube tanks. We also offer pre-built or customizable aquarium kits so you can either make it your own or skip the legwork entirely.
Can I use rimless tanks for saltwater aquariums?
Absolutely. If you have a glass box, you have creative freedom. Ultum Nature Systems also offers several rimless tanks designed specifically for reef setups. Check out the Dual AIO tanks or UNS Reef Systems, which come fully stacked with a matching aluminum stand and integrated sump filter.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure your space first and consider the fish, plants, and hardscape you plan to include. Smaller tanks are perfect for desktops, while larger tanks can support more elaborate aquascapes. Keep your lifestyle in mind, too—the bigger the tank, the longer water changes may take.
