"Bright, bold, little plants"
Anubias Heterophylla
Anubias Heterophylla is a classic Anubias species that offers a medium to large sizes Anubias in a planted aquarium tank. In its natural habitat, Anubias can be found growing on rocks close to stream edges partially emersed and submerged making it a great choice for both aquarium tanks and terrarium-like, emersed setups. Anubias Heterophylla, like most Anubias, is quite forgiving in nature and is easily loved by hobbyists of all skill levels due to its hardy nature and ability to adapt well to a wide range of aquarium tank parameters.
Anubias Heterophylla is a bold green in hue and its leaves are fairly large with a slight wave. It has the potential to grow much larger when kept in its emersed state and will stay on the smaller side when kept in an aquarium fully submerged. Like other Anubias, Bucephalandra and Java Ferns, Anubias Heterophylla does best when attached securely to aquarium hardscape such as aquascaping stones or aquarium driftwood. Alternatively, it can also be placed between cracks in an aquascape layout and it will attach itself overtime. Care should be taken to ensure its roots are not glued when attaching as this can promote the rotting of the plant. Anubias benefits from consistent fertilization but light requirements are minimal as its leaves are susceptible to algae growth when placed under high lighting. CO2 is optional but can promote faster growth and robust leaves when used.
This anubias is available in tissue culture form! Tissue culture plants are grown in sterilized conditions. This is the only way to guarantee a pest-free, snail-free start for your planted aquarium.

About Our Live Aquatic Plants
Aquarium plants can vary in growth form and may require time to transition to your aquarium environment, whether grown submerged or emersed. This transition period is a natural part of establishing healthy, long-term growth in planted aquariums.
From carpeting plants in the foreground to stem plants and larger species used in the midground or background, each plant offers a unique contribution to a balanced and natural aquascape. As plants adapt, it is normal to see minor changes such as leaf melt, color shifts, or new growth patterns as they settle into their new conditions.
We carefully inspect and prepare all live aquatic plants prior to shipping. While we do our best to minimize hitchhikers, we cannot guarantee plants to be completely pest or snail-free unless tissue culture options are selected.
Because live plants are perishable, some signs of transit stress may occur, including leaf loss or cosmetic damage. These are typically temporary and when when healthy roots are present, most plants will recover with proper care.

About Our Rhizome Plants
Rhizome plants are known for their durability and unique growth structure, making them a popular choice for both beginner and experienced aquascapers. Instead of being planted directly into the substrate, these plants grow from a horizontal rhizome that should be attached to hardscape such as driftwood or stone.
Burying the rhizome can lead to rot, so it is best to secure the plant using thread, glue, or by gently wedging it into place. Over time, the roots will naturally attach to the surface as the plant continues to grow and spread.
Rhizome plants are generally slow-growing and require minimal maintenance, making them ideal for low-tech aquariums. Their sturdy leaves and gradual growth provide long-term stability and are often used to create detailed focal points or anchor hardscape within a layout.
Common examples include Anubias, Bucephalandra, and Java Fern, all loved for their resilience and easy care.
