Anubias Nana Thick Leaf is a less common variant of Anubias. This particular variation features small, rounded dark green foliage that is slightly wavy. Just like other Anubias, it is also very hardy and easy to keep making it ideal for all hobbyist levels. Anubias Thick Leaf will appreciate an aquarium tank with good circulation as this aquatic plant can be susceptible to algae growth on its leaves, but can adapt to almost any planted aquarium tank and will survive in a range of environments. If given optimal conditions, this aquatic plant will grow quicker and larger. Also like other species of Anubias, Anubias Thick Leaf is a slow grower, but patience is rewarded. As an epiphyte, this aquatic plant does best when attached to a hard surface such as aquarium driftwood or rocks. It can also be wedged into cracks available within the hardscape layout. Another added benefit of this plant is that herbivorous fish such as goldfish species rarely munch on it!
It's a flowering plant that grows best when the rhizome is attached to hardscape material such as wood or stone. Regular fertilization is favorable and low to medium lighting is sufficient as high lighting will promote the growth of algae on its leaves. CO2 is not required but promotes faster growth and robust leaves.
Propagation is straightforward; simply cut or pull apart rhizomes to be reattached.

Aquarium plants can vary in growth form and may require time to transition to your aquarium environment, whether grown submerged or emersed. This transition period is a natural part of establishing healthy, long-term growth in planted aquariums.
From carpeting plants in the foreground to stem plants and larger species used in the midground or background, each plant offers a unique contribution to a balanced and natural aquascape. As plants adapt, it is normal to see minor changes such as leaf melt, color shifts, or new growth patterns as they settle into their new conditions.
We carefully inspect and prepare all live aquatic plants prior to shipping. While we do our best to minimize hitchhikers, we cannot guarantee plants to be completely pest or snail-free unless tissue culture options are selected.
Because live plants are perishable, some signs of transit stress may occur, including leaf loss or cosmetic damage. These are typically temporary and when when healthy roots are present, most plants will recover with proper care.

Rhizome plants are known for their durability and unique growth structure, making them a popular choice for both beginner and experienced aquascapers. Instead of being planted directly into the substrate, these plants grow from a horizontal rhizome that should be attached to hardscape such as driftwood or stone.
Burying the rhizome can lead to rot, so it is best to secure the plant using thread, glue, or by gently wedging it into place. Over time, the roots will naturally attach to the surface as the plant continues to grow and spread.
Rhizome plants are generally slow-growing and require minimal maintenance, making them ideal for low-tech aquariums. Their sturdy leaves and gradual growth provide long-term stability and are often used to create detailed focal points or anchor hardscape within a layout.
Common examples include Anubias, Bucephalandra, and Java Fern, all loved for their resilience and easy care.
