Altenative setup is possible with the purchase of the CII Led Light Base if installation to an aquarium rim is not feasible or desired. "This unit puts out great light and plenty of it. i was coming from a 10 year old led light that had faded in power and quality without me noticing and once I put this on my tank it was night and day for my plants. The app works but is a bit janky. And the way the light is mounted to the tank makes it not perfectly flat- if youre ocd this may bother you. I decided not to knock off any stars because it does everything necessary for great plant growth very well."
