Hydrocotyle Tripartita AKA Hydrocotyle Japan earned its bragging rights through frequent usage by arguably the most famous aquascaper, Takashi Amano. Characterized by clover-like leaves, Hydrocotyle Tripartita generally grows in compact bushes, is highly versatile and can be used almost anywhere within the tank. It's very forgiving and grows quickly when planted under proper conditions. Because of this, it has the tendency to overgrow if frequent trimming isn't performed. With consistent trims, high light and use of CO2, the plant will stay low growing and will create the carpet effect over the foreground.

Propagate by trimming stems and replanting or pulling apart dense clumps and splitting the roots. New shoots can be trimmed anywhere along the stem thus allowing the plant to grow thicker and more compact.
