IMPORTANT: Marimo Balls will be unavailable until further notice due to the recent detection of Zebra Mussels. We are following instructions released by government agencies and invasive species programs.

We do our best to thoroughly clean and inspect all plants prior to shipment but cannot guarantee lead bunch or potted plants to be free from snails and/or algae. Not your thing? Please consider purchasing tissue culture aquarium plants!

Tissue culture plants are cultivated in sterile lab settings ensuring your plant is free from pests, snails and algae! These are young specimen that are grown in emersed forms. Gel should always be removed prior to planting.

LIVE PLANTS ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO STRESS AND DAMAGE FROM TRANSIT - This may appear in the form of minimal melt, leaf loss, cosmetic damage, etc. Refunds or replacements will not be issued for plants with viable root systems or that die out of our care.

Aegagropila Linnaei, more simply known as Marimo Moss Ball or Cladophora Aegagropila, is not actually a moss or plant: Marimo balls are actually a form of algae! This type of algae is found in shallow bodies of water where the current from the water movement then shapes the algae into the easily recognized spherical shape that earns its name. Native to Japan and Northern Europe, Marimo is a direct translation to seaweed ball in Japanese and is arguably the only algae that is readily welcomed in the aquarist's planted tank. Marimo Balls are deep green in color and offer a velvety-fuzzy texture to the aquarium. They can be kept as is or pulled apart and applied to aquarium driftwood or stones. Marimo balls have a bulletproof reputation and they are known for being difficult to kill making these algae balls a great choice for beginners. We recommend Marimo Balls for anyone who is looking to add pops of natural green color to the aquarium. Greening is a newer technique used in the aquascaping hobby where the scaper breaks down the ball and applies small portions of Marimo to the hardscape.
