Pellionia repens, commonly known as Watermelon Begonia, is a beautiful and versatile plant well suited for terrariums, vivariums, and enclosed container gardens. Often called the Watermelon Begonia Vine, it’s loved for its asymmetrical leaves and otherworldly color tones that are common with true Begonia species.
This plant is very easygoing and adaptable. Pellionia repens will happily shingle, trail, climb, and vine when given the space, making it an excellent choice for both foreground and background coverage in a terrarium. It thrives in warm environments with high humidity, and its foliage can subtly change depending on the conditions it’s grown in. Because of its forgiving nature and flexible growth habit, it’s a top contender for beginners and a dependable favorite for experienced terrarium and vivarium hobbyists alike.
