Pogostemon Helferi was discovered in Thailand, close to the border of Burma. Its name 'Downoi' means little star in Thailand due to its leaf shape and overall look. Unusual and distinctive, this aquatic plant is compact with curly leaves and has vivid green coloration.

If kept under proper conditions with good lighting and quality substrate, Downoi forms side shoots with small roots that have the capability to turn into a lush foreground carpet.

Striked out on this one

"I have always loved this plant and have ordered it for my other tanks years ago. I thought I would give it another try since I have a new ONF light fixture but they did not do well. I planted these on thursday when I received them and then went to my moms house the next day to help with renovations and painting of her home. After coming home on monday I discovered that there were just stems sticking out of the substrate. I looks like something ate all of this downoi. I still love this plant but will think about trying it again this time to stay home to watch what happens to it."
