A combination of aquarium driftwood and aquascaping stone were chosen for this small cube aquarium tank. Several pieces of Pacific Wood and Black Lava Stone were strategically stacked to create levels of depth within a 20C by Ultum Nature Systems. Measuring out to be a 2.1 gallon cube aquarium tank, the 20C doesn't give ample room, but we love a challenge and this aquarium tank is the perfect solution for tight spaces! Utilizing higher substrate levels, we formed fine natural sand into a steep slope before placing our hardscape materials inside, giving the illusion of a much deeper aquarium tank. For an aquascape layout as such, we would recommend leaving the aquarium driftwood bare and playing up the little spaces and cracks between the hardscape layout. Epiphytic aquatic plants such as Anubias and Bucephalandra species would fit perfectly! We'd also recommend covering the Black Lava Rock with aquatic mosses to add another green element and maturity. Alternatively, the fine natural sand can also be replaced with nutrient-dense aquarium soil and planted with an aquatic foreground like Hemianthus Callitrichoides. In the background, we would choose aquatic stem plant species such as Rotala and Ludwigia to complete the aquarium tank.
