Saxifraga Stolonifera is an ornamental (and very cute!) plant. Commonly called Strawberry Begonia, it’s not actually a strawberry plant or a begonia, but gets its name from its physical traits and growth habit. Native to Asia, it is sometimes miscategorized as a geranium, though it belongs to the Saxifraga family, which also includes Jade Plants. In the right conditions, Strawberry Begonias will put out trailing stolons and baby plantlets. Its fuzzy leaves display a veined pattern with undersides that range from red to purplish hues.

It's important to highlight that this is not an aquarium plant, but it would work beautifully in an open terrarium-like setup. It tolerates most household humidity levels and appreciates moderate to bright, filtered lighting. Intense direct sunlight or grow lights may scorch the plant and cause more harm than good. If you choose to pot it traditionally, ensure your mix drains well, avoid wetting the leaves, and prevent standing water. Otherwise, fertilize every two weeks or once a month. It is fairly easy going and will reward you with baby plants to propagate or share with friends and family.
