The minimal amount of equipment and space required for Wabi Kusa makes it a go-to choice for those who are interested in having a nature display in the home or office. Our Wabi Kusa Starter Kit provides all the necessary equipment to grow a successful Wabi Kusa style display. Ultum Nature Systems Controsoil is a great growing medium and can be adjusted in nutrition density depending on plants chosen. Whether you decide to mold it into a classic sphere shape or use it as a base substrate, possibilities are endless! A flush aquarium lid is included to retain moisture and humidity as your plants make the necessary transition. From there, lighting is included and all you need to do is choose your plants!

How To Set Up:

STEP 1: Set up the ONF Mist O stand and light kit and place the aquarium tank on the stand base. Don't forget the black leveling mat underneath the tank! 

STEP 2: Add your Ultum Nature Systems Controsoil into the tank. Advanced Tip: Form a Wabi Kusa Ball with the soil!

STEP 3: Choose your plants! Not sure where to start? Check out the list of aquarium plant species that we find are perfect for emergent growth!

Pro Tip: Wabi Kusa should be kept in a sealed container to trap moisture and humidity. Air out and allow essential gas exchange to occur by opening the container once per day for 5-10 minutes. Emergent aquatic plant leaves feel thicker than submerged leaves. Anytime during this process, if plant leaves start to dry, mist plant with clean, treated water generously.

STEP 4: Enjoy! Remember to remove dead or damaged leaves to prevent mold.

We do not recommend housing freshwater fish in this size setup and instead suggest Neocardinia Shrimp or aquarium snails such as Cherry Shrimp or Nerite Snails.
