Echinodorus Red Flame is a hybrid Echinodorus species, developed by crossing two different Echinodorus plants. Due to the nature of the plant, Echinodorus Red Flame may differ in appearance depending on the conditions in which the plant is kept. Typically, Echinodorus Red Flame offers bold red and green coloration when grown in optimal aquarium conditions as its name implies. This plant may also grow emersed. In this state, Echinodorus Red Flame appears to have coarse-textured rounded leaves.
When grown in an aquarium, its size is more compact, and may display bright and deep red coloration under intense lighting. Echinodorus easy care makes it a great choice for beginner hobbyists and typically works great in Wabi Kusa setups as well. Like all aquatic sword species, Echinodorus Red Flame is easy to keep, fairly hardy and needs a minimum of a nutrient-rich aquarium substrate as these species of aquatic plant are heavy root feeders. Aside from this, Echinodorus species are fairly tolerable of varying water parameters and lighting conditions.
