Utricularia Graminifolia

Aquatic Plants
Usually ships in 1-2 business days from our fulfillment center

Utricularia Graminifolia or UG has recently been one of the most highly sought after foreground plants due to its ability to recreate a thick and lush grass-like lawn. It grows by spreading horizontal runners. If left untrimmed, it will eventually grow thick enough to detach and float above the substrate. UG has been notoriously difficult to grow in a newly establish planted aquarium due to its inability to adapt well during the bacteria cycling phase. We recommend planting UG in an already established tank or first growing it via the Dry Start Method. However, once rooted UG will grow at a fast rate and develop into a thick carpet of bright green. It does not require much fertilization and instead prefers a nutrient-rich substrate such as Marfied Controsoil or Tropica Aquarium Soil

High lighting is not necessary to grow UG but will definitely increase growth speed and thickness.

Tissue culture plants are grown in-vitro by laboratories who specialize in propagating aquatic plants. There is a huge selection of plant species that have been propagated this way. This is truly the best option for those who want absolutely zero unwanted pests, algae and pesticides. This makes them perfect for shrimp keepers and any planted tank enthusiasts alike.

NOTE: It is important to remove the tissue culture agar gel before planting. Simply wash the gel away, divide, and plant.
