Easily mistaken for a type of aquarium driftwood, because of its texture and coloration, Petrified Wood Stone is actually a popular hardscape rock choice used in the aquarium hobby that features layering characteristics. Compositionally speaking, Petrified Wood Stone is essentially the fossilized remains of terrestrial vegetation and results when trees or tree-like plants are turned into stone through permineralization. Versatile, Petrified Wood Stone can be used in aquarium tank setups, reptile setups, terrariums, and vivariums safely. With its distinct look, the use of aquatic plant species provides a nice contrast and can be used to create unique aquascape layouts in planted aquarium tanks.
