Bucephalandra Brownie Jade is one of many buce varieties. Like others, it is a resilient, slow-growing plant that is often dubbed a great beginner plant for its hardiness. While this is true, Bucephalandra have so much potential when provided with consistent care and stability in planted aquariums.

To grow happy and healthy buce, go back to the basics. Tanks should be mature with fully established cycles to prevent melt and alleviate stress on the plant during transition periods. Plant your Buce in a spot that receives low to moderate lighting and good, indirect flow. CO2 injection and light fertilization can help improve form and color, but tank cleanliness is key! Overall, Bucephalandra is a genus loved by most. These aquatic rhizomes can grow in a variety of settings and observing the transition from emersed foliage to fully submerged growth is rewarding. Colors morph and many species (not all) feature the signature iridescent shimmer when placed under specific aquarium lights. Make sure to trim away old or dead leaves and keep up on tank maintenance!
