A relative belonging to the Lava Rock family, Icelandic Lava Stone features similar characteristics paired with added detail, ,character and texture. Just as porous, but slightly denser than regular Lava Stone, Icelandic Lava Stone offers added texture that makes this aquascaping stone perfect for recreating scenic mountain aquascapes. Its porous surface is favorable for attaching aquarium moss and epiphytic aquarium plants such as Anubias, Bucephalandra and ferns and a rougher texture makes this stone suitable for stacking. Icelandic Lava Stone is versatile and we can see it being used for popular aquascaping styles from Iwagumi to Pond-style and more.

"Everything was packed in tightly with padding, and the box was taped nicely. The lava rock came a little smaller, but it could have been something that happened in shipping, since lava rock breaks a little easier (kind of like slate). I can just glue them to the shape that would go along with the flow of the tank I'll be getting later."

Fast shipping and very good quality stones

"Very happy with the assortment and variety of texture of the stones I recieved. I ordered a 30lb and a 10lb set. I want only able to use about 30lbs but I’m glad I got 40lbs just to have enough to pick and choose from. I wanted quite sure if the whole “Icelandic” name on the lava stones was just to raise the $$$ but even if it was, it’s definitely worth it. Pictures do not do them justice and I’m very happy with what I got."

Q&A

I purchased 90 lbs of your Icelandic Lava Stone for a freshwater aquarium, it was fantastic! I'm converting my aquarium to a saltwater/marine aquarium, and am wondering if the Icelandic Lava Stone would be safe for use in a saltwater aquarium as well. Are you aware of any customers who have done this successfully? In researching, there are a lot of recommendations against using lava stone in marine tanks.: Hello and thanks for your support! We would only suggest saltwate/marine designated rocks for your converted aquarium because we have no way to predict how it would interact with saltwater parameters at this point.

Will Icelandic Lava Stone effect water chemistry? I was told that the best choice is Lava Rock as it is inert. Is Icelandic Lava Stone the same? I do not want it to raise pH. I currently have Seiryu Stone which is causing pH problems. Or would I be better off with Dragon Stone?: Lava stone in general is inert so you won't have any fluctuations in water chemistry if you choose to use Icelandic Lava Stone rocks in your aquarium.
