Limnophila Heterophylla is an easy aquatic stem plant that adapts well to a wide range of aquarium conditions. It’s especially popular in low-tech tanks since it requires little care while still offering a unique look. Its bright green color stands out, and its lacy, ornamental foliage adds great texture. We recommend this plant for beginner aquascapers as a background choice, though it’s a solid option for any skill level.
This aquarium stem plant doesn’t require CO2 injection, but like all aquatic plants, it will benefit if provided. In high-tech setups, it grows quickly and will need regular pruning. It can be grown both submersed and emersed.

Aquarium plants can vary in growth form and may require time to transition to your aquarium environment, whether grown submerged or emersed. This transition period is a natural part of establishing healthy, long-term growth in planted aquariums.
From carpeting plants in the foreground to stem plants and larger species used in the midground or background, each plant offers a unique contribution to a balanced and natural aquascape. As plants adapt, it is normal to see minor changes such as leaf melt, color shifts, or new growth patterns as they settle into their new conditions.
We carefully inspect and prepare all live aquatic plants prior to shipping. While we do our best to minimize hitchhikers, we cannot guarantee plants to be completely pest or snail-free unless tissue culture options are selected.
Because live plants are perishable, some signs of transit stress may occur, including leaf loss or cosmetic damage. These are typically temporary and when when healthy roots are present, most plants will recover with proper care.

Tissue culture aquarium plants are grown in sterile, laboratory conditions, ensuring they are free from pests, algae, and snails. These young plants are cultivated in nutrient-rich gel and are grown in emersed form before being introduced into the aquarium.
Tissue culture plants are best for aquascapers looking for clean, controlled plant material, especially for shrimp tanks or sensitive setups. Before planting, the gel media should be gently removed, and the plant can be divided into smaller portions for planting.
With proper care, tissue culture plants transition quickly and establish into healthy submerged growth.

Trim aquarium stem plants by cutting the stem
After trimming, the rooted portion can remain in place or be removed
New shoots will grow from the node where the stem was cut
Alternatively, replant the healthiest trimming to propagate new stems
Repeating this process encourages denser, bushier plant groups
April 6th — Just over one month of growth with little coloration in the stem plants
May 21st — Stem plants are beginning to take off, but coloration has not fully developed yet
May 31st — Slight melt appears in the lower, older portions of the stems as the plants transition to new growth
June 21st — The stem plants are starting to color up, but the group has not yet been "shaped"
July 6th - The stems now have color and have reached the surface. This area is now trimmed and shaped
July 6th - The healthiest and most colorful trimmings are replanted in between for denser growth

"Beautiful, healthy Limnophila! Plant arrived fresh, well-packaged, and in great condition. No melting so far, stems are strong and green. Looks amazing in the aquarium and already shows new growth. Very happy with this purchase!"
"It grows beautifully and my shrimps love it! 💕"
"so pretty!! my shrimpys love it"
"Gas shipping and plants came healthy looking"
"Stunning! It was placed wonderfully in the packaging with the other cultures, so there's minimal effect from transportation. It looks soft in the pictures, but they don't compare to the amount of fluff on this plant! I’m dancing, looking at it!"
"I've ordered limnophila heterophylla several times from various sellers (it's my absolute favorite aquarium plant - EVERY tank has to have it), but the condition I received them in from Glass Aqua is the best I've seen so far :) I think if I ever need more of it, I'll definitely get it from here."
"My first batch came in a bit unhealthy due to shipping. I contacted them and they immediately issued replacement but gave me option to wait another week for new shipment as the current plants there didn't look healthy due to power outage. True to their word, they immediately sent out replacements the moment they got their new shipment and it came in perfect. The Plants are thriving in my tank!"
"My daughter wanted this for her tank. Once it arrived I loved the look so much I had to make another order just to put this in my own tank haha"
"These look so sharp, and are growing well! The specimens arrived quickly and in excellent condition. They've been in my new planted tank for about a week and have already grown almost 2 cm! In the photo, you can see them in the middle of the background and off in the corners of the tank"
