Hemianthus Micranthemoides or Micranthemum Micranthemoides, aka Pearl Weed, is a bright-green aquatic stem plant commonly seen in planted tanks. This little aquarium stem adds texture, grows fast and can be shaped into dense bushes! Its small size is perfect for all aquarium sizes and it works particularly well in nano planted tanks. This aquarium stem plant is more recently known as Hemianthus glomeratus or Micranthemum glomeratum as well. The ever-changing names of this plant are due to many misidentifications!
Pearl Weed's scientific name is close to Micranthemum Monte Carlo’s, but the two should not be confused! Both plants grow differently and have different leaf shapes. As far as care, Pearlweed is an undemanding plant. It will grow in low light aquariums and can tolerate many conditions fairly well, leaving plenty of room for beginners to grow in the hobby without feeling discouraged. However, once established and happy, this mini aquatic plant exhibits some large growth! Invest in a quality pair of aquascaping scissors and be prepared to trim it if you’d like to achieve bushy areas in your aquascape or keep a manicured planted tank. Compact growth can be obtained with higher lighting. Inadequate light will cause this plant to stretch out, resulting in leggy growth.

Aquarium plants can vary in growth form and may require time to transition to your aquarium environment, whether grown submerged or emersed. This transition period is a natural part of establishing healthy, long-term growth in planted aquariums.
From carpeting plants in the foreground to stem plants and larger species used in the midground or background, each plant offers a unique contribution to a balanced and natural aquascape. As plants adapt, it is normal to see minor changes such as leaf melt, color shifts, or new growth patterns as they settle into their new conditions.
We carefully inspect and prepare all live aquatic plants prior to shipping. While we do our best to minimize hitchhikers, we cannot guarantee plants to be completely pest or snail-free unless tissue culture options are selected.
Because live plants are perishable, some signs of transit stress may occur, including leaf loss or cosmetic damage. These are typically temporary and when when healthy roots are present, most plants will recover with proper care.

Tissue culture aquarium plants are grown in sterile, laboratory conditions, ensuring they are free from pests, algae, and snails. These young plants are cultivated in nutrient-rich gel and are grown in emersed form before being introduced into the aquarium.
Tissue culture plants are best for aquascapers looking for clean, controlled plant material, especially for shrimp tanks or sensitive setups. Before planting, the gel media should be gently removed, and the plant can be divided into smaller portions for planting.
With proper care, tissue culture plants transition quickly and establish into healthy submerged growth.

Trim aquarium stem plants by cutting the stem
After trimming, the rooted portion can remain in place or be removed
New shoots will grow from the node where the stem was cut
Alternatively, replant the healthiest trimming to propagate new stems
Repeating this process encourages denser, bushier plant groups
April 6th — Just over one month of growth with little coloration in the stem plants
May 21st — Stem plants are beginning to take off, but coloration has not fully developed yet
May 31st — Slight melt appears in the lower, older portions of the stems as the plants transition to new growth
June 21st — The stem plants are starting to color up, but the group has not yet been "shaped"
July 6th - The stems now have color and have reached the surface. This area is now trimmed and shaped
July 6th - The healthiest and most colorful trimmings are replanted in between for denser growth

"Nice quality for tank"
"First time seeing this plant and wasn't sure what to expect. Love this little leafed plant! It is like Monte Carlo but not fussy and very easy to plant! I actually prefer the tiny leaves over Monte Carlo and adds a nice definition to the tank. This is a new tank set up about a month old and was planted about 2 weeks now. Thriving and starting to sprout up and spread. I just love the look it gives this new tank rescape!"
"Beautiful, healthy and packaged in secure containers. Every plant I get from glass aqua is exceptional."
"Melted! Please include an ice pack for hot weather or offer one for sale, and advertise it. The box it came in was ok, just shipping companies don't care. I know they looked gorgeous to begin with, pitty."
"Came in really good shape!! Having issues with everything melting about a week and a half in, but hoping that the roots are establishing and will grow back sometime this week more. Using a dirt bottom tank with 1 inch sand cap."
"Plant was delivered in perfect condition. Been in my quarantine/Grow Out tank for several weeks and has almost doubled in since. Very happy with this product!"
"lovely plants, came very healthy and bright :)"
"I bought this plant to replace the monte carlo carpet in my low tech tank. The monte carlo wasn't doing very well and I heard this plant was easy to care for and fast growing. I planted it about a week ago and it's already grown an inch! I would definitely recommend it."
"Packaging was nice and plant is healthy."
