Caridina Multidentata aka Amano Shrimp are powerhouses of shrimp and are well-known for their algae consumption capabilities. We add Amano shrimp to nearly every tank setup in the initial stages to help with diatoms and other potential signs of algae! These shrimp are fairly hardy and will tolerate a wider range of water parameters making them a great choice for beginner hobbyists who are interested in keeping shrimp in their tanks. They do not breed in freshwater settings and require brackish water, but will certainly live a long time if care is optimal. Amano Shrimp can be more aggressive when compared to other caridina species, but will typically do fine with both peaceful and semi-peaceful tankmates. These shrimp grow slightly larger than other forms of freshwater caridina shrimp and should be kept in tanks with a bit more room to accommodate mature shrimp. A Glass Aqua favorite and an essential member of the algae clean up crew for the planted aquarium!

Shrimp are extremely sensitive to copper. If using tap, be sure to use a dechlorinator to ensure safety for your invertebrates.
