Taxiphyllum Sp. Taiwan Moss, more commonly known as just Taiwan Moss, is an aquatic moss that features a classic, soft green hue. Commonly compared to Java Moss and Willow Moss, Taiwan Moss exhibits an overhanging growth pattern and has a wide range of uses in a planted aquarium tank. Like all aquatic mosses, Taiwan Moss is very hardy, easy to keep and will adapt to a wide range of aquarium tank parameters. Taiwan Moss can be used in cold water setups along with tropical planted aquarium tank setups. Although aquatic moss doesn’t need much to live, the results from providing optimal conditions are extremely rewarding. Quality aquarium tank lighting and CO2 injection encourages growth and branching of its fronds. When allowed to grow in bushy patches, Taiwan Moss makes a great safe haven for smaller freshwater aquatic life such as fish fry and shrimp. The benefits of aquatic moss are often overlooked, but it can be used for a wide range of looks with its versatile placement. Taiwan Moss can be used to cover unnatural gaps in an aquascape layout or attached to aquarium driftwood and aquascaping stones. Aquatic moss such as Taiwan Moss can easily add character, soften a jagged aquascape layout and give instant maturity to a freshly planted aquarium tank.
