Fuchsia Fury
Fuchsia Fury is a Dutch-style planted aquarium built in a UNS 45T tall rimless aquarium, designed to showcase vibrant aquatic plants without hardscape. Dutch-style aquascaping is iconic for its dense planting, strong color contrast, and carefully arranged plant grouping that creates a structured yet natural composition.
In Dutch-style planted tanks, each species is intentionally selected and positioned to highlight its individual color, texture, and growth pattern while contributing to a cohesive design. Hardscape materials like driftwood and stones are left out of the picture, with the spotlight reserved for aquarium plant form and color.
For this aquascape, our goal was to achieve a gradient of colors. A variety of vibrant pink to deep maroon-toned aquatic plants were selected and planted based on growth pattern, size and color. The foreground includes Cryptocoryne sp. Pink Flamingo (Pink Panther) and Hygrophila sp. Chai. These plants transition nicely through a layered midground of assorted species and into a background of brightly colored stem plants like Ludwigia natans ‘Super Red’ and various Rotala species.
Dutch-style planted tanks require precision trimming and regular maintenance to maintain a manicured look! If you're interested in creating your own, learn what we used below and get inspired!
