Green Haven
Green Haven is a Nature Style planted aquarium nestled in the Ultum Nature Systems 45U rimless tank. Select pieces of Malaysian Driftwood were placed on top of Manten Stone to form the structural foundation of the layout. The wood was intentionally arranged to sit somewhere between a classic centered and triangular aquascape, creating a balanced but slightly dramatic focal point.
To establish an instant feel of maturity, we wrapped the wood with aquarium moss. We then tucked various species of Bucephalandra into open gaps at the base where we felt extra texture and color could be appreciated. Instead of committing to a fully planted foreground, we opted for fine natural sand to contrast other carpeting planted aquariums running in the same space at the time.
True to Nature Style aquascaping, the background was planted with a variety of colorful stem plants. Five different Rotala species were selected to create a myriad of color, then paired with Bolbitis to tie everything together. The rest of our aquatic plant choices were guided by size, leaf shape, and growth pattern to ensure everything blended naturally while still fitting the dimensions of a 45U tank.
Nature Style aquariums don’t necessarily aim to replicate a specific scene, but instead draw inspiration from many. That flexibility and creative freedom is exactly why this aquascape style continues to be one of our personal favorites.
