Island Paradise
Island Paradise is a nano aquascape in the Ultum Nature Systems 3N rimless aquarium for a Betta Fish named Tadoe. While many recommend a minimum of 5 gallons, a smaller tank can work well when proper maintenance and extra care are provided.
Despite its compact size, the goal was to create a layout that still felt layered while providing a calm, enriched environment that Betta Fish are comfortable in. Bettas do best with dense foliage, shaded areas, and plenty of places to explore and rest. With this in mind, we chose dense planting over open space.
Eight low maintenance aquatic plant species were used to fully plant the tank from the start. Species like Anubias, Bucephalandra, Bolbitis, and aquatic moss were selected for their durability and rich color. To finish the layout and add extra coverage, we added Phyllanthus fluitans (Red Root Floaters) to the surface. Aquarium floaters are highly beneficial, providing added security and a form of natural water filtration.
